Sadhana de 30 días con Marianne - Día 10

0lindezas

La canción de hoy es Till the end of the day, de The Kinks.

30-day Sadhana with Marianne - Day 9

0lindezas
7:30 am. It's cold. I'm tired because I didn't go to bed until 2:30 last night. But that's exactly why they call it challenge and commitment. So I get up, put on the stretchy clothes and head to the office, where there's the quietest and most comfortable space to practice yoga.

I love this. This is why I signed up for this. It's just me, the dim light of the early hours, my breathing and my body stretching through the poses.

When I'm done I feel full of energy, my body feels better and lighter than ever. I sit there for a while, savouring the moment. I want to remember this, so together with my sankalpa, it will remind me why I'm doing this every time I go back to that dark spot.

Today's song is Swim until you can't see land, by Frightened Rabbit.

30-day Sadhana with Marianne - Day 8

0lindezas
After a whole week (a whole week!) of practicing yoga, I'm finding myself at a familiar and not-desirable spot. I'm drifting.

That means I'm losing my focus, my motivation and I'm finding it difficult to commit to the practice.

I don't know why this happens, but it's not the first time and, unless I do something about it, I foresee it won't be my last. The thing is I hate it. It's not that I don't like the practice, much the contrary. It's more like my body has incorporated the practice as something familiar and has lost interest. I know, that's an awful thing to say.

So today it's taken me all day to finally get down to do the practice. It didn't feel nice. I mean, yoga did, but not the moment I chose to do it or why I chose to do it.

Then, at the end, when I was doing the savasana, I took my time to reflect on it. Why am I doing this 30-day practice? What do I want to take out of it? What do I have to do in order to get to that point? That's where I have to start tomorrow.

Today's song is Don't stop believing, by Journey.

0lindezas
Me estoy desviando.

30-day Sadhana with Marianne - Day 7

0lindezas
Today was a little weird. I read about shame and your body and yoga on Marianne's blog yesterday. I've never felt shame in yoga class, at least not about my body. I never thought it was a problem if I couldn't do a pose. If anything, I considered it a challenge. I know what my body can and can't do and I love it enough not to force it beyond its capacities. But I also know that if you give me enough time, I'll get there.

I say I've never felt ashamed, but I have felt clumsy and frustrated, which is just as bad. And most of the times is only us who make us feel that way. Nobody is judging us as hardly as we ourselves do. And we need to let that go, we need to be kinder to ourselves, we need to learn to love ourselves for what we are. We are perfect in our own unique way and there are plenty of things we can feel proud about.

Anyways. Today I had an audience, so to speak. J. was here at the time I usually practice, so he was in the room when I was on the mat. Admittedly, it felt weird. When you're in yoga class is different because everybody is minding their own business and they're doing the same thing you're doing anyway.

So yeah, it felt weird and I can't say I liked it. It was like an invasion of my space and my time. But I did it anyway. I couldn't concentrate as much or as well, and I more or less raced through the whole thing.

On the other hand, in a way it forced me to pay more attention to what or how I was doing it. Not to show off. Or maybe just because of that. I'll have to think about this one.

PS. First week of sadhana... check.

Sadhana de 30 días con Marianne - Día 7

0lindezas

PD. Primera semana de sadhana... cumplida.

La canción de hoy es I'm so excited, de Le Tigre.

30-day Sadhana with Marianne - Day 6

0lindezas
Today I haven't done my practice. At least not as the rest of the week. It wasn't one of my best days at all. I felt all gloomy and bad without reason. That makes me feel even worse, when I don't know why I feel crappy.

The point is I wasn't feeling up to doing anything, including yoga. Maybe it was a mistake because it would have probably made me feel better, but I didn't think of that.

So I just sat there and breathed. I concentrated on my breathing and tried not to think of anything else, except from the air coming in and out of my lungs. It felt good, but I don't know if that alone is yoga.

That is maybe another sankalpa I can add: consider yoga as something that is there to help me, some place I can retreat to when I'm feeling down... specially when I'm feeling low.

Today's song is Don't give up, by Peter Gabriel and Kate Bush.

Sadhana de 30 días con Marianne - Día 6

0lindezas
Hoy no he hecho yoga.

Así que me he sentado y he respirado.

30-day Sadhana with Marianne - Day 5

0lindezas
Today I've changed my sankalpa for the practice. Well, not exactly. I've kept my "balance" sankalpa, but I've added a new one.

I realized yesterday that when I'm tired or my muscles are tight, I tend to hold my breath and I end up not breathing at all. So today I decided I was going to concentrate on my breath and on loosing the muscles with the breathing.

I know, I know, that's what I was supposed to be doing already, but is not that easy. I can't say I did perfectly, but good enough. My body has to adapt to that too. Which is a pretty weird thing to say if you think about it. Everybody breathes, but it's always unconsciously. So having to control when you take air in and when you let it out, directing it to a certain part of your body... is not that easy.

I'll keep this as my sankalpa until I can do it without concentrating or even thinking about it.

Apart from the physical part, this yoga sadhana is doing marvels with my mind. I feel I can already concentrate better, think better, which was a big part of the reason why I joined this 30 days of yoga. I was HOPING it could do that. And it hasn't even been a week.

But don't you think this is some kind of voodoo magic: you start doing yoga and your mind clears right up. No. I think it has a lot more to do with the attitude. With that little voice in your head that tells you, "get up, time to show up on the mat. You can do it. You're strong". And then the satisfaction of looking at yourself and seeing how your body changes, how your mind broadens, how you've grown in only five days. You have the power to be a better you.

Namaste.

Sadhana de 30 días con Marianne - Día 5

0lindezas

Namaste.

30-day Sadhana with Marianne - Day 4

0lindezas
Today I had to take it easy because yesterday I had the brilliant idea of going for a jog. For the first time in my life. And I did 2.5 km. Because that's what people who has never run before in their lives go for their first time. But I guess in part was due to the yoga practice. I was feeling so good and energetic I thought I could take it.

So today my thighs were all tight and cramp-y and I decided to take the practice easy. Marianne has told me how many repetitions I can do of each section, or how long I am supposed to hold a pose, or how many repetitions is expected of me to do by the end of the four weeks. So I'm going to step it up one week at a time.

I think I'll lay low for a couple of days and then I'll try to speed up the repetitions I'm already doing. And yeah, so far so good.

One more small thing. At some point I'll have to do it on my own, meaning, without the video, but right now Marianne's voice soothes me and helps me concentrate and remember to keep breathing. And you gotta love the accent!!

Namaste.

Sadhana de 30 días con Marianne - Día 4

0lindezas

Namaste.

30-day Sadhana with Marianne - Day 3

0lindezas
So! Three days in a row... who would have thought? And the best part is that it already feels like I've been doing this all my life. I get up and I practice yoga. Because that's what I do.

Another thing I had to do today and I hadn't realized it could happen was letting go of the outside world. I think I tend to stress over things a little bit and it's no different during yoga. It's just that the previous days I was calmer so I could focus on the practice. But today I had to concentrate on not thinking about the phone call or the thing I had to do after. And it's been surprisingly easy. I've decided this is MY time and when those thoughts of things I had to do after started to appear, I just pushed them to the side. There's absolutely nothing so important that can't wait 30 minutes. That's been really invigorating, actually. I felt mighty.

I'm still working on my poses. I have no problems with most of them, but the pigeon pose, for example, is causing me trouble. I can do it and postrate all the way to the floor without unbalancing my hips or forcing anything too much. But I can only hold it for so long before I start feeling pins and needles on my calf and foot (the folded under ones). So maybe I should be stretching my calves for a little longer? I have to ask Marianne. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Today's song is That time, by Regina Spektor.

Sadhana de 30 días con Marianne - Día 3

0lindezas
Bueno! Me levanto y hago yoga.

Me he sentido poderosa.

30-day Sadhana with Marianne - Day 2

0lindezas
Yesterday evening I started to feel the effects of my morning practice: the occassional tightness here and there and a much more active body and mind. I'm delighted! So today is proven to be more effective as it was my second day. I already feel a little bit more flexible, although I need to work on my breath.

I don't know what is it with breathing, but I don't seem to do it right. It took me a good six months to grasp the gist of the pilates breath and I remember agonizing over it for the first couple of months. I know I shouldn't beat myself over this cause once I let go, it usually comes to me quite naturally like, "Oh! So that's what all the fuss was about!" It's just that my kinesthetic memory is what works better for me, so once I feel it, I never forget. But the thing is that sometimes it's easier said than done and it takes a while.

Either way, I like this way of empowering myself. I feel like I'm giving my body and mind the tools to face whatever comes my way. Maybe some would say, "But it's only yoga!" Oh, but it is so much more. It could be yoga or whatever other practice (healthy practice, preferably, as it's supposed to cleanse your soul as well), but the commitment, the determination, the decision of making it yours, your own time and space in the day... that makes it so much more than "just yoga".

Sadhana de 30 días con Marianne - Día 2

0lindezas

30-day Sadhana with Marianne - Day 1

0lindezas
Today my sadhana started!! There were no fireworks, but I definitely felt it work.

Today was more about showing up on the mat and having a feel of the practice than anything else. Now I know what I'm up for and I think that concentrating on my 'Earth and Fire' routine (cool name, huh?), I will find that the poses take me to that place I'm trying to go to.

At the beginning I thought it wasn't hard enough, just comparing it to the 'Power yoga' thing I was doing before. But then the purpose is different, and one thing doesn't exclude the other. I mean, this routine takes me inward, more to a place where I can feel my body gently opening and enjoying the practice, kind of like getting to know where my muscles are again and how far they'd be willing to go. Then I can also do the other practice, but that doesn't let me turn inwards because I'm more concentrated on not dying and on not stretching to the point where something breaks. Well, it's not THAT bad, but the pace is faster and I don't know how to keep the breaths on time that fast yet.

Anyways. I'm happy I started this. I'm proud of myself for not wussing out. And I really, really think this will turn up great.

Thank you, Marianne, this was a great idea!

Sadhana de 30 días con Marianne - Día 1

0lindezas

30-day Sadhana with Marianne - Committing to your sadhana

0lindezas
The last task I have pending before the journey starts is coming to terms with my own sadhana. As I said, sadhana means commitment, so I need to find my own commitment. What am I willing or ready to take on? The point is trying to stick to it as much as possible so the whole experience is the most fulfilling that could be. So no impossible goals here.

I've decided I want to commit fully, meaning I want to do it for the full 30 days. It doesn't mean I need to be as hardcore as it gets. I just want to do a little bit each day.

I've put a lot of thought into it and that's what my body and mind are asking for. I need to build some character already, no laziness allowed. I need to commit and stick to it. Know that I have something that is mine and that I'm doing for me. It's like a gift to myself. Something I think I really need as I've been quite tough on myself lately.

So yeah... here, battered and abused part of me, this is for you. Hope you like it.

Love,
me.

Today's song is Beautiful, by Christina Aguilera.

yo.

30-day Sadhana with Marianne - Finding your sankalpa

0lindezas
As I said yesterday, the sadhana is starting on Sunday and I have up until then to wrap my head around it and find my sankalpa.

I've been trying to get down to it, to find a quiet place in me to figure it out. And although my whole body and mind are practically screaming what my sankalpa should be, I want to really quiet down everything around me and let it flow. The only thing this proves is how much work I have ahead of me. But oh! am I willing to take it on! My whole being is begging for it.

I don't know how to explain it. I watch people around me and all I can see is their movement. But it is not that I'm trying to calm down from the raging movement around me as if I was stressed, no. I see their movement and although it may look raging living in a big city and ll, what it feels to me is plain wrong. They move, but for all the wrong reasons, in the wrong direction, with the wrong intention. It's as if they were out of beat. So what I want is to calm down my own internal wrong raging movement and make it right. Learn how to move with the flow, with the beat that lies underneath all this artificial and fake façade. I want to be able to breathe and move freely, without the constraints I feel now. I want to feel free.

So I try and sit down, picture myself on a beach of white sand. I know it's a beach because I can hear the waves, although I cannot see the ocean. I feel the warm breeze against my skin, the sun warming up my hair. I'm comfortable and the air smells of nature, salt and summer. Now I can see someone coming towards me in the horizon, hazy, like an illusion. Little by little, the edges of their shape becomes clearer and I can see it's a girl, a woman, walking slowly. She's confident and some kind of peace beams out of her, like in waves. When she finally reaches the space where I'm sitting down, I realize it is me. She leans forward, makes a cup with her hand and whispers something in my ear. "Balance, love", she tells me. That is my sankalpa.

Thank you, calmer, better part of me. You smell nice.

Today's song is Unwritten, by Natasha Bedingfield.

No sé cómo explicarlo.

"Equilibrio, amor", me dice.

Hueles bien.

30-day Sadhana with Marianne - What comes before

0lindezas
I've been reading Marianne's blog for a few months now. I got to it by pure chance, via Chookooloonks' blog, reading the comments to the superpowers forum. The thing is that I fell in love with the spirit it oozes, with the ideas she has and the way she writes about them.

Marianne, among many other things, is a yoga teacher. And I realized that there comes a moment in everybody's life when they feel the need to know themselves better, to connect with their inner self to a higher level, and to balance that with the rest of their lives. At least, that's what's happening to me. Although a few years ago I was totally skeptical of the possible qualities yoga could have, not too long ago I reconnected with the practice and started to get the gist of it. Clearly, there's a time for everything.

The thing is that Marianne proposed a 30-day sadhana on her blog. Sadhana means commitment, so this sadhana will be the commitment to practice yoga every day for 30 days. It may seem stupid, but I think you need to have -at least- a specific will power and conviction to be able to undertake it.

I feel attracted to it for several reasons. Maybe the first one is because it is a challenge, because I know myself and I know that, even though I can be very determined when I put my mind into it, lately I find it difficult to "keep my focus" or to remember why I started doing something specific. I will also do it because I need to focus, I need to find a balance between what I have inside and what is outside. I hope that balance will help me making sense of things and therefore stop feeling this storm inside of me. Maybe, hopefully, it will also help me figure out why I feel this way.

This sadhana starts on Sunday and this week I have one task, which is the sankalpa. I know, it sounds like I'm speaking Chinese or something. But it is just to find a purpose, why I want to do this sadhana. Sankalpa comes down to a sentence that is your purpose. That way, when I feel my strength flicker o when I lose my focus, I'll be able to remind myself why I started doing it.

Ever since I read about the idea of sankalpa I feel like I can apply it to other aspects of my life and maybe turn it into the first step to recover my centre.

In any case, I have decided to take on a double sadhana. Every day for 30 days I will practice my yoga exercises, and every day for those 30 days, I will post my thoughts about it on this blog, kinda like a journal. So make sure you stop by!

Sadhana de 30 días con Marianne - El previo

0lindezas

Significa amar
y perder y desmoronarte y volver a componerte.

Es lo mejor del mundo. Y a veces, también lo peor.

A veces no tendrás con quién hablar, a veces te preguntarás si
has olvidado quién eres.

Me encanta!!

Happy New Year

0lindezas
Today is December, 31 and we have the coolest tradition here in Spain, which is eating twelve grapes to the count of the twelve strokes that mark the end of the year. It might seem silly, some sort of superstitious bullcrap, but it is actually one of the few things I do miss when I'm not in Spain.

The moment when you're eating the grapes is the greatest. It's a moment you spend with family and/or friends, there's always the same 80's song on, and you gather in front of the TV (if you're not at the main square or at some party) to listen for the thousandth time to how the whole thing works. It is a moment of sharing, friendship, love and hope. And I say hope in the widest sense it can have. Because you always wish for things to happen in the new year, but you also cling to the mistery: what will this new year bring? Will I be able to start on a clean slate? Will this finally be the year where everything comes together in perfect harmony?

What I like the best is the moment right after, when you kiss and hug everybody in the room, when you share something we all have in common. It makes you feel you are a part of something.

All of this to tell you that this year I've thought we could give a twist to all this. This year, when I'm more aware than ever of all the things I have, when I couldn't be more thankful for how lucky I am, I've thought about something I read months ago. Back then I found it peculiar, but I didn't give it much thought. It's all about wanting things, really want them in order for them to come true, like calling them. And also to be thankful. Everyday give thanks for whatever you think it's worthy to be thankful for.

As this year I'm way too filled with love and gratitude and all, I'm going to wish for something with every grape I eat, but really, really wish for it. The trick is that those wishes can't be for you, but for other people. For example, with the first grape/stroke, I wish for all the people who's gonna spend the night alone to feel my good vibes and the warmth of the love. With the second grape/stroke, I wish for all of those who are sick, to feel better tonight, at least for a while. And so on til twelve. It is not complicated. You don't even have to articulate all that (not even in your head). You just need to picture whatever you want to transmit in your head and send it with all your might.

You may also do it with 'thank-you's', but deeply felt thanks. First grape: I give thanks for all my family. Second grape: I give thanks for all my friends. Third grape: I give thanks for the salesperson at the market down the street, because he always saves the best tangerines for me... I don't know. It's just that it feels like the best time to think about all the people around you, to feel the moment you're living and really see all the love there is in the world, which is there for you to receive and give back, if it may be, multiplied.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY 2010 TO YOU ALL!!

Feliz año nuevo

0lindezas

Choir of Young Believers

I know I recently posted a video by Jeff Hamada about the wonders of living near the snow, that whenever the sun shines on it the world is even prettier than anywhere else. But today I'm posting this other video, also by him, because I looove the song.

The band is called Choir of Young Believers and they're Danish. This song already belongs to my household soundtrack, and will be passed on from generations on end. Enjoy!!

Choir of Young Believers

0lindezas

¡A disfrutar!

Till the end of the day!

0lindezas

'Till the end of the day! from jeff hamada on Vimeo.

Aaaah!! I couldn't believe it when I saw it... the memories!! I've been on those slopes. 'Been there, done that', or so they say. And suddenly, my kinestetic memory has gone to overdrive. For a split second I've felt the cold wind on my face, the googles pressed onto my face, the tension in my legs, the soft crackling sound of the snow underneath the board... total freedom.

I want to go back to the snow, I want to tie the bindings, I want to slide down the slopes. I want. I want. I want.

It's been such a long time I'm starting to think it was just this one time in my life when I did that, for fun, for devotion, for whatever reason. And I miss it and I want to have that part of me back, I want to be that person again, who woke up at times I never wake up to go out to the intense cold, to tie a board to her feet and spend the whole day practising a sport, THE sport. I miss that feeling of being at peace with the world, of that link to nature and to my body, of that tug-of-war with my muscles, with my tendons, with balance. I miss that happiness you feel when you finally manage to pass in between those trees, reacting so fast you no longer think with your brain, but with your feet and your legs and your hips.

And yes, this video has reminded me of all that. Thanks, Jeff Hamada.

¡Hasta el final del día!

0lindezas

'Till the end of the day! from jeff hamada on Vimeo.

Aahhh!! Yo he estado en esas pistas. "Been there, done that", que dicen los anglos.

Gracias, Jeff Hamada.

Band-aids for the heart

1 lindezas
There are times when you realise you've grown as a person and that you've left behing a phase of your life. It's like being a witness to your own History.

My phase has had its own soundtrack, special effects and good amount of props... and I survived. There have been things I haven't been proud of, but that I am already taking into account to prevent them later. In fact, I'll probably learn a great deal from them. And then there have been other things that have helped me to know myself better, to know what I'm willing to do and what I'm capable of. Those things, as of today, make me feel confident and very, very proud of myself. I've fought with other people, with the circumstances and with myself, and I think I've won most of the times. I know I'm flawed, a bit neurotic and somehow paranoid, but I accept myself as I am, I try to mold those things that I like the least about myself and I'm proud to know that the good things I have are very good.

As everybody else, I seek to be a better person and I really think I'm on the good track. These past few months I've talked a lot with myself (not necessarily literally) and I've reached several important conclusions. The first one is that happiness doesn't come if you don't work for it, and that is hard work, and it's not worthy to get stuck on things that make you unhappy only because you think you must do them. The second one is that nobody owns my freedom and I have all the right to exercise it. If somebody else's well-being depends on restricting my freedom, that well-being is not such. I know this is all very easy in theory, but putting it in practice is not so simple, specially because we all have our own habits and neurosis that make this quite complicated half of the times.

From this phase I've come out renewed and almost rejuvenated. I've never felt more energetic, more willing to do things, to push myself, and to revisit things I thought forgotten.

I truly encourage everyone who reads this to analise if they're really happy and as free as they think they should be. Even if it hurts or is complicated, cut with those things that either make you unhappy or less free. I guarantee you will win more than you'll lose. I look forward to hearing from you.

Tiritas para el corazón

2lindezas

On girls being girly

0lindezas
No, I don't like weddings nor "it would be great" to go to anyone else's.
No, I don't like dresses, and it's actually worse when you'll never be able to wear it again.
No, I don't really like to gossip.
No, I don't like shopping, I think it's some kind of modern-time torture.
No, I don't wear high-heels... and I don't understand why anyone would want to.
No, I hardly ever put on makeup, and really, I don't care if I'm too white, too "freckly" or you don't like my short eyelashes.
No, I don't like jewelery, and gold makes you look cheap.

And no, I don't feel bad about any of the above. Not everyone is cut for all that perfectionist crap.

Sobre que las chicas sean femeninas

1 lindezas
No, no me gusta cotillear.

Nesting Instinct

0lindezas
Although the MTWSH is always telling me that my obsession with hanging pictures, changing the room order, and laying coloured fabrics is a nesting instinct and that, before I know I'll be begging him to make me a baby, I've always argued that what I have is an "Ikea instinct"... redecorate your life. That or maybe a little bit of OCD too.

Lately, like for the last three or four years, my redecorating instinct has been kicking really hard, asking me for a radical makeover. Not in the sense of painting the walls in a fucsia pink or changing the chairs in the living room, but more in a selling all that in a garage sale and move to another country kinda way. The destination doesn't matter. I'm not going to say the farther, the better, because my mom would suffer a heart attack, but almost. I want that, a radical makeover. I want the change so bad I am willing to give up the countries with perpetual snow for those with palm trees and beaches. Really. I don't care, I just want to leave.

But then one can't be bothered. You need to look for the place, do all the paperwork so they let you in, save the money to eat while you're there, pack at least a pair of undies and a toothbrush... I mean, so many things. In the rush it can be very exciting. But nah, it passes fast. Then it is just a matter of rutine. It's true that living in another country is always a little bit more exciting, even if it's only because the place is different, the people is different, you don't know anything... and it's an adventure.

But no, what for? why change all that it's taken you so long to gather (furniture, books, dust) for something only because it's exciting? That's so silly.

Instinto anidador

0lindezas

Gardening 101

0lindezas
Even though at first the MTWSM refused having plants in the house (why bring dirt into the house intentionally?), there came a time when I thought it was very sad to have a deserted lounge room, and seeing granny's luscious greenhouse didn't help at all. So we started with one plant (known as "the green plant" for some reason, as if the rest weren't green) and then with another one. That was in the other appartment and only because we didn't have room for anything else. As soon as we moved here, I went crazy. I started buying plants and that's when I learnt the first lesson... don't ever put two plant with different characteristics in the same pot. It sounds like common sense, doesn't it? Well, for a complete illiterate regarding plants, if it has leaves and flowers, it's the same. Why would they need different light patterns? Or water needs? Anyways, in my defense I'll say only those two plants died.
A little while after that, my mom gave me a Swedish ivy plant and told me it needed no specific care, that I could water it whenever I remembered. And it certainly grew beautiful with just a little bit of watering. But then one day it hailed so hard it seemed the sky was going to fall down (the gauls would have fleed in terror) and the poor Swedish ivy ended up with just one stem and half a leaf. Today's still recovering, but little by little it's getting its past lushness back.
And at the end of the summer I bought two hortensias. We've always loved those plants, maybe because they remind us of the north and they make it seem like the air smells like the sea and barbeque sardines, with salt and lemon and... what was I talking about? Oh, yes! Plants.
Thing is this winter is being a little weird, it's raining more than usual in Madrid and even though it's cold, it is not the coldest winter we've ever had. So the hortensia we have in the office window has gotten this beautiful.
It's so nice to see it like that, even if it's from inside... Some experts have suggested we put them inside for the winter or they will die, but I feel they wouldn't be well inside with the heating and dryness when they could be outside, breathing fresh air and having the sunlight directly on them. But oh, well, I call out to all mothers and gardeners of the world. We admit suggestions and advice for total beginners on gardening.

Jardinería I

0lindezas

So much to do, so little time

0lindezas
I've been wanting to post this for some time now, but it's been a crazy couple of months.
Recently, someone said to me that my winters are full of activity and it's true. Maybe it's a sign that I like cold more than heat... or whatever. For the last couple of months I've been taking 3 courses at a time, apart from my normal workload and a few new projects. At first I thought it wouldn't be so bad and I can't believe this same thing happens every year. Now I have so many things to do I spend the whole day running around, my legs hurt from going up and down the metro stairs all day, and I feel "half there" most of the time from the lack of sleep. But oh, boy! is it true that when you like something nothing seems to bother you! I'm truly delighted, I'm really liking what I'm doing and on top of that I've managed to get rid of the bad habit of watching TV. Instead, I use that brain-melting time to practise with the violin. And I'm improving quite fast... that's motivation!
Obviously sometimes I get stuck or the exhaustion causes me not to perform as well as I'd like, but even that is teaching me things about myself. It seems incredible that at this point in my life I'm learning more than when I was obliged to. But it also helps that everything is starting to make sense and things are starting to fall into place. I think growing up is not going to be so bad after all.

Mucho que hacer, muy poco tiempo

0lindezas

Yes, we can

0lindezas
In a delirious night, while I stuggled between pain and fever, with a dry mouth and chills going down my back, Obama was elected President.

For an instant I held my breath while he went up that stage in Grand Park, in Chicago, and gave that great speech. He talked about that 106-year-old woman who has seen it all, who has suffered herself having to sit down in the back of a bus, who was both discriminated against because she was a woman and she was black. For her, he said, for her and for all of you we are here tonight. I know you haven't done it for me, you've done it for yourselves, because you were ready for a change. And we will be together in this, I will listen to you, I will be honest with you, and I will be your President too. What a moment! That's why they call it History, in capitals, because if that's happened, if a totally unknown man has made 75% of 223 million people go and vote and believe in a common path, then yes, we can.

But we still have what we have. The same politicians who instead of focusing on what they have to focus on, spend their days throwing bad words at each other like 3rd graders on a school playground. I agree with Max, we also want to dream, we could use an Obama over here too.

Sí, se puede

0lindezas
